Reading Comprehension Research Paper on Reading and.
Reading comprehension strategies focus on the learners’ understanding of written text. Pupils are taught a range of techniques which enable them to comprehend the meaning of what they read. These can include: inferring meaning from context; summarising or identifying key points; using graphic or semantic organisers; developing questioning strategies; and monitoring their own comprehension.
Reading strategies that have been identified and recommended by recent literature can be classified into four categories: cognitive strategies, compensation strategies, memory strategies, and test-taking strategies. Research indicated that the use of appropriate strategies may improve reading comprehension. Research has also suggested that readers could be trained to learn and use reading.
Action Research Project: Fluency vs. Comprehension Wilmington University Elizabeth DeMatteis Obold December 2013. Action Research Project 2 Abstract The action-research presented in this paper seeks the answer to the following research question: do targeted fluency interventions positively impact comprehension? This research included a test group of ten sixth grade Special Education students.
Further, The National Reading Panel (5) called for more research on which reading comprehension strategies are most effective for particular age groups and sex to bridge the gap between decoding.
The Journal of Research in Reading provides an international forum for research focusing on literacy. It is a peer-reviewed journal principally devoted to reports of original empirical research in reading and closely related fields (e.g., spoken language, writing), and to informed reviews of relevant literature. The Journal welcomes papers on the learning, teaching, and use of literacy in.
In this paper, the researchers define the term reading and reading comprehension, explain the types of reading, declare models of reading process, state theories of reading comprehension, review.
Reading comprehension comprises two elements: listening comprehension and word decoding, which makes it clear that people may have a different ability to comprehend or decode words. A number of researchers have found that there are children facing problems in decoding words, but with good listening comprehension skills. Other children have good decoding skills, but weak listening comprehension.
